Decision Rights Kept Visible Across the Portfolio
01Parent decisions stay defined
02Operating decisions stay close
03Relationship does not grant voice
The requirement, the system and the delivery logic.
Shared leadership can create speed only when the role being exercised is clear. Parent-level decisions include portfolio entry and exit, source diligence standards, capital allocation, major infrastructure commitments, cross-company risk, claims policy, and the approval of material contracts. Operating-company decisions include account management, plant or field execution, program delivery, customer service, and the company-specific records behind those activities.
Where a person serves in more than one company, the approval identifies the entity, authority, and record under which the person is acting. Conflicts are disclosed and routed to a different decision maker when necessary. Customer information, pricing, source records, and commercial opportunities are not treated as a common pool simply because the companies sit under one parent.
The same discipline applies to external partners. No source owner, investor, vendor, or strategic partner gains the right to speak for the platform or another portfolio company merely by participating in one project. Public announcements, brand use, claims, and named relationships require the approval of the entity they concern.
